Day 2

Anchorage to Whittier - Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before meeting your personal driver/guide for your exclusive journey south by private vehicle to Whittier. Along the way, stop in at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a non-profit that focuses on rescuing and rehabilitating the wildlife of Alaska. Get a personal tour of the facility and up close with a moose while learning about their lifestyle and time at the Center.

The small town of Whittier is accessible via the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel – the longest highway tunnel in North America at 2.5 miles.  The one-lane tunnel operates on a schedule allowing vehicles – and the Alaska Railroad – to share the tunnel at various times. Arrive in Whittier where you will meet the crew of the M/V Sea Star and embark on a cruise through Prince William Sound.

The 95-foot yacht will be your home for the next four nights on your custom and privately guided cruise tour. Get acquainted with your Captain and crew before settling in and taking in the view of the passing mountains.

Day 3

Immerse Yourself in the Wildlife of Prince William Sound

Prince William Sound is made up of 10,000 square miles, and countless fjords, glaciers, passages, and remote islands that can be easily explored on the nimble M/V Sea Star. The remote vast nature within Prince William Sound and its protected waters make it the perfect environment for abundant marine life. The seas, skies, and islands are home to numerous species such as sea otters, harbor seals, Dalls porpoise, humpback whales, orca whales, mountain goats, deer, black bear, and more that you may have the possibility of seeing during your private charter. Learn all about these delightful creatures from your naturalist guide on board.

Day 4

Glaciers Galore!

Prince William Sound is home to dozens of glaciers, including hanging glaciers found up in the mountain crevices, and tidewater glaciers that touch the sound waters.  Your private cruise will provide ample opportunity to see these ancient blue ice formations that are often associated with Alaska.  Your captain and crew will dedicate as much time as you like near the glaciers so that you can check ‘seeing a calving glacier’ off your bucket list. Because of its small size, the Sea Star will get you closer than any other vessel to the face of tidewater glaciers for the opportunity to hear the creaking ice flow of these frozen rivers and the hear the astounding crash of the calving ice hitting the water.

Day 5

Your Own Exclusive Adventures in Prince William Sound

Your time aboard the M/V Sea Star can be spent being as active or relaxed as you would like, which makes it a great option for family and friends who may want something different during their time on the water. Set out on a sea kayak to explore small coves and immerse yourself in your natural surroundings. Go ashore with your naturalist guide for leisurely beachcombing or a more adventurous hike. Learn how to harvest fresh prawns for dinner, or simply sit back and relax with a good book and glass of wine in one of the most scenic locations in the world.

Day 6

Return to Whittier

Wake up on the final day of your private charter and enjoy breakfast while taking in the last bit of solitude. Your crew will hoist the anchor and the boat will make its way back to Whittier. Lunch will be served and your Captain and crew will do their best to provide wildlife viewing or glacier activity in route. Disembark in Whittier where you will meet your private driver/guide to return to Anchorage for your departing flight, or continue on a private touring program.

Main Ship

The M/V Sea Star is an 85-foot classic comfort yacht that provides smooth sailing through Prince William Sound and along the Kenai Peninsula. Originally built in 1965 the yacht has been beautifully maintained and updated to provide classic charm. The main salon hosts three different seating areas, a dining salon that comfortably seats 12, and a spacious foredeck with a padded settee complete with waterproof blankets, perfect for wildlife viewing.

Staterooms

Each of the staterooms on the yacht includes their own private bathroom with shower, storage, and screened opening portholes that let in the fresh sea breeze. One bathroom includes a tub/shower combination. Each of the four rooms is configured differently and will accommodate 1-4 guests. Get cozy in your comfortable bed complete with luxury linens at the end of an adventurous day.

This small ship cruise operates out of Whittier, located 60 scenic miles south of Anchorage and/or from the town of Seward located 127 miles south of Anchorage on the Kenai Peninsula. One way and roundtrip itineraries are available from each port and they are both accessible by vehicle or by passage on the Alaska Railroad.

Each gourmet meal onboard the M/V Sea Star is freshly prepared based on each guest’s dietary specifications by the yacht chef. The cuisine features locally caught seafood, premium meats, and fresh fruits and vegetables. The chef will prepare fresh pastries each morning, and fine wines and beer are available with lunch and dinner.

Prince William Sound and Kenai Fjords National Park offer endless possibilities for viewing wildlife and glaciers, kayaking, hiking, and beachcombing.  Adventure is accessible right off the bow of the vessel.  The boat is much more nimble than a typical cruise ship so it can navigate as close as possible to the face of glaciers and into quiet coves. Its convenient swim step provides easy access in and out of the boat’s kayaks or boarding the skiff used for excursions.

All activities and adventures are included when sailing on the M/V Sea Star, but you may also choose to relax and take in the scenery from the boat.
